Whether it is flooring tile or shower tile grout, it can definitely be stubborn to clean. Kitchen and housing tile grout is porous, so it absorbs liquid and dirt, and mildew can quickly develop in the bathroom. Preventing the “dirty, stained grout look” is a constant struggle. Lets face it, cleaning tile grout is an unpleasant problem.

Over the years, we finally decided on our best method of cleaning tile grout, getting the best results by simply cleaning in two passes. The first pass we use a mixture of vinegar and water, applied with a rag or sponge, this quick pass removes most of the initial mildew and such. For the second pass, we use a soft toothbrush or scrub brush with soft bristles and commercial cleaning agent that contains bleach. Spray the surface and let it sit for 15 minutes on the grout before brushing. The bleach will delay the growth of future mildew, but should only be used in well-ventilated areas. Simply only the window and let the fresh spring air in.
